New bridge quiz

I think I should be a copycat and also begin the new year with a ‘bridge’ quiz like my friend Icemoon. However, since the year is new, I shall use a new bridge instead. Unlike Icemoon’s disused bridge, this one is heavily used.

Hint: I did not have to do any dangerous stunt like climbing under the bridge to take this photo. I took it from a very public area surrounded by many tourists. Actually I did not take this photo with the mind of blogging. I just liked the pattern of the columns – or whatever you call those concrete things.

My quizes too easy. Our friend's eyes must be all trained only to spot cannons so did not see this.

This one is a bit too easy... so many people have gone past this place before. And its sight is quite unique so most people who have passed by should remember it well. Looks great when lit up at night.

Hi Mr. Lam, I chanced upon your blog while scouring for information on Margaret Drive, and I want to let you know that I appreciate your nostalgic posts on a Singapore that I may or may not remember, having been born in 1983. But of course, Margaret Drive will always hold a special place in my heart because I grew up there.

Thank you so much for your efforts in documenting Singapore and I look forward to more of your posts!

Thanks T. Glad you enjoy my stories. I have not visited Margaret Dr for quite some time. Yesterday my friend Victor introduced me to a Food Court at Mei Ling St. Apparently some of the hawkers from Margaret Drive have moved to there.

Ah Margaret Drive, memories and nostalgia. I lived at 756 margaret drive opposite a bridge that linked 'blue house' and Queenstown Tech. During the monsoon the river would be swollen and public mindedness teochew when not drunk will actually save people fallen in the river. He once save a woman who was still clutching her child under the torrent river.

I lived from 1956 to 1966 and then we moved to Shepherd Drive. Now i am settled in Melbourne , Australia. There were gansters 24 08 36 and blue house vs margaret drive and we usually came out second best. We had Ah Kow gangster turned policeman who frighten the blue house gangsters. The streams of hawkers satay their gravy so very thick, mee-rebus, rojak, roti, too-too etc. My dad use to say you guys never let a hawker pass without stopping them. There was Indian cow herders bringing his herd of cows across and someone naughty boys threw stones at the cow and the herders.Hua Hi secondary had their strike against PAP. Racial riots but our area pretty save.

Hi Malspore. Thanks for sharing your memories of Queenstown/Margaret Dr. Have you read my other articles on Queenstown. Just click on the label Queenstown on the right side of the blog.

BTW, I don't understand what is Blue House? How about putting your memories together into an article and I will post it to share with other readers. They are going to tear up Margaret Drive and Queenstown soon. Your memories would be precious knowledge to other older Sporeans who love and miss the Queenstown of old.

Also, Do you have any recollections fo the mysterious shooting incident that I blogged about here.
