Hint – It used to be a cinema; can you see the Shaw Brothers logo? In the old days, all SB theatres have this logo prominently place at the top.A few years ago, it was converted into an S11 food court; and now it is undergoing renovation. I heard that it had been bought over by one of the mega-churches. Like the 2 former cinemas in Queenstown that I blogged about earlier, it looks like this one will also be converted into a church. So perhaps we can again adapt the words of that song I mentioned in my previous post.
Where have all the cinemas gone? Gone to churches and food courts everyone.

I think when the multiplexes started in the late 80s or early 90s, it spelt the demise of single-shows cinemas. Then I think there was a spate of them being converted for use by arcade and billiard operators. You know, if these buildings could tell a story, it'll be really interesting.

Victor. I have always been impressed by how sharp and observant you were. In my comments, I said the Kopitiam was brand new. So how can it be sold to a church so quickly?
Oh well, Jubilee cinema in Ang Mo Kio was renovated to become a multiplex, with some stores. The once New Crown & New Town Cinema in Ang Mo Kio now houses a furniture mall. The once Broadway Cinema used to screen Indian movies a few years ago, and now it is converted to a building with a few eateries, K-Box and more.
Well, I suppose people are quick to capitalise on these old cinemas buildings that once had a glorious past, but now seemingly less relevant in today's time.
Look's like I need to give more hints. Perhaps another photo from a different angle? Or a close up of the road sign? But then it may have to wait till I visit that area again.

Yes it is in Taman Jurong. And was called Jurong Theatre. It is located at the junction of Corporation Drive and Yung Sheng Rd. A lot of changes in this area in recent years. Maybe will blog it one of these days.
I remember this place to be really crowded on Saturday nights in the early 80's.
Behind this cinema is a wet market and food centre.
Very nostalgic because my cousin and I used to explore Taman Jurong whenever we visited our grandparents.
During those days, it was pretty safe for children to walk around without much adult supervision.
