Foyers lunch gathering last Saturday

Last Saturday, a few of us ‘Foyers’ (Friends of Yesterday.sg) got together for lunch at a well-known Ampang Yong Tau Hu restaurant in Siglap which was recommended by Wee Kiat. The food was great. I liked the thick bee hoon with dark gravy.

Anyway, I took the opportunity to hand out my new book, Ideas@work. Below is a group photo taken by Noel of the six of us - Wee Kiat, Victor, Noel, Peter, Dick Yip and myself. Do you know that of the six people in this photo, 4 are published authors? And all 6 are avid bloggers. In time, I am sure, we will be able to persuade Peter and Unk Dicko to write a book as well. In fact, Unk Dicko narrated to us a gripping account of his first-hand encounter with the Hotel New World disaster – stuff that will make for a great read.

In spite of my objections, they held out a copy of my book for the camera. In that case, I might as well exploit this photo to do a commercial and remind readers that my book is available at Select Books in Tanglin Shopping Centre (19 Tanglin Road #03-15) and Clementi Book Store in Clementi Central (Block 450 #01-297, Commonwealth Avenue West). You can also place your orders directly from me here.

Hey C See...me think you and I got some common telepathy. I was just doing a similar blogpost but had to save it for later tonight.
Thanks once again for the signed copy of your book. Have shown it to the Mrs.
It is great to meet up and chat with the group especially with Noel and Peter. A few more couldn't make it otherwise we would " pow kar liao" that table!

There used to be 2 Indian sarabat stalls in Siglap which operated 24/7. These were situated along the main road; one was not far from Jalan Senang. I had several after midnight meals here – roti prata and soup kambing. This was in the late 60’s to early 70’s. I doubt these stalls are still around.

Sorry Chun See,
The fingers were too quick. Again congrats!

Hey Jean. I agree with your first statement; but I must protest the second one. That 'hot' guy is at least 20 to 30 years younger than the rest of us. Didn't you see the photo of Peter (the one baring his biceps) in his swimming trunks taken during his younger day?

Darn. Now all the attention is taken away from my book :(

Congrats again, Chun See.

Great ideas to inspire great tips.

No worries. Everyone on the group photo on GMY the main attraction. The book and you guys. Color red is hot and outstanding, Noel. Good one.

Cheers!

Hey Chun See, I think I'm losing track of time. Is this the second book you have written? I know you wrote one several months ago. I believe you are currently writing one on the old Singapore and hope to complete it by the end of the year.

It'd be good if you could give us the names of your mates in the above photo in the order they are seated.

LOL!!!
Chun See if its any consolation guy in red t shirt looks older...*blank stare*...or maybe my old laptop has ancient pixel level.
No I've never seen pic of Peter in trunks but I have to say his biceps will make my husband green with envy.Actually all you guys look fit :)
Attention to your book hasn't been ambushed by a t shirt or bulging biceps or bowl of bee hoon with dark dark, lets say they are mere props to a great campaign pic above ;)
Cheers lah!

Thanks Andy for the support. If you want your copy signed then you must make a point not to miss the next gathering.

Edward. This is actually the same book that I published earlier. It's related to Productivity and it's about how to manage/promote and empower staff suggestions in a company. At that time, I made it available only on the online store (in US) called www.lulu.com. However the price was too high, especially when shipped back to Spore. And sales was very slow there. So I decided to print in locally and try to sell in Spore and Malaysia. This is especially so since lately there has been much interest in productivity in Spore with the govt promoting strongly, and so I hope to conduct some training workshops and use the book as course materials.

My second book is based on this blog and I intend to title it Good Morning Yesterday. I was halfway thro' it when this renewed interest in Productivity in Spore emerged and so my writing pace has slowed down to a crawl. I still hope to finish it by end of the year.

Chun See,

Congratulations on your book. Your second book GOOD MORNING YESTERDAY sounds very interesting too. I will buy a copy, hopefully during my next Singapore trip. Just a reminder, I hope that you will write a third book
"B.R.S." If all the ex-BRS students will each buy a copy, the end result will be a big success too. Keep up with the good writing!
